This 15 minute video from Canada makes a low-key, compelling case for sanity in the area of speed limits and enforcement. For those of you who have been exposed to my rather more forcefully expressed frustration at the lies and stupidity of police, media and politicians it might just be a bit of a wakeup call.
The situation in Victoria is now just manic with the State Government simply addicted to the obscene levels of revenue raised from innocent motorists driving in perfect safety. The addiction is at a level which means that the key players knowingly lie to protect the revenue. Remember Peter Ryan as Police Minister swearing that “safety cameras are never wrong” even as thousands of refunds were made because of faulty cameras?
We even have enough money to employ a full time apologist for the revenue cameras – Road Safety Camera Commissioner with his own website and three full time staff. The sole role of this office is to provide a complete smokescreen of pseudo fairness behind which the blatant thievery can continue unabated.
Setting speed limits well below a reasonable save level is nothing short of legalised theft.
Give an underachiever power and a gun and a beaurocratic post and you get megalomaniacs frothing at the mouth with power and stupidity like rabid dogs
