Another update

Here we go again… In an effort to make posting to my blog easier, and therefore more consistent, we are applying yet another makeover.

Going to be more of a “tumblr” style of layout and will facilitate short single topic posts in areas that currently interest me.

I’m sorry to say that I no longer have any interest in PHP or any publishing platforms other than WordPress. Sorry Joomla folks, but I simply cannot allocate any time to addressing you genuine needs for plugins I published years ago.

Carr drops promise to raise Assange case

Assange

Bob CarrRecently our hand picked Foreign Minister, Bob Carr, confirmed my theory that our politicians are required to “check in their brains” at the doors of Parliament.

We know this is the case since members of either of the 2 major parties are required to vote the way that the faceless men have decided. And, to make sure that we don’t accidentally get a vote other than that decreed by same faceless men, each party enforces a practice called “pairing”. Pairing means elected Members are not permitted to enter Parliament if one of the idiots on the other side happens to be on holiday, sick or otherwise doesn’t feel up to voting that day.

How Amazon Helped Me Create The Paperless Office

Order from Officeworks

Order from AmazonAbout two years ago I started to implement the paperless office. But it was buying on Amazon, not Australian Retail Business that provided the kick start.

Now, as I sit at my desk about to buy another scanner I am faced with a dilemma. I know what I am going to do to resolve this dilemma, but I feel a bit bad about the decision.

I have been using a Canon P-150 Portable Scanner to scan virtually all incoming paper documents.  The resultant PDF files are stored in Evernote. This combination actually made the possibility of the paperless office a reality.

Why the new look?

Even though we were well overdue for an overhaul here, the new minimalist look has been forced as a result of a hacking attempt on my server. This act of wanton bastardry has meant that, for the last week, all I have been doing is trying to restore sites, domains and email accounts to a working position. Not fun!

An open letter to The Hon Julia Gillard MP

Dear Prime Minister

Detention Centre
Scary People we are urged to harm

I am absolutely disgusted that a person of your obvious intelligence and strength cannot see beyond the inhumanity of completely abrogating our responsibilities to refugees.

The logical extensión of your stance is to say that, if exporting refugees to a country where we can guarantee they will be mistreated doesn’t work, we will have to sink their boats and watch them drown.

The basis of our policy should be how to help the refugees, NOT how to make the outcome of asking for help so much worse than the tyranny they are fleeing that the latter is more fun.

Shame on you, shame on your policy, shame on your Government. In this respect you, your policy and your Government are CRUEL, EMBARRASING and simply *UNAUSTRALIAN*.

I urge you to find the moral strength to ignore the voices of pathetic spin doctors reacting to the bellowing of illiterate rednecks. It simply cannot be impossible for you to implement a civilised solution to the plight of men, women and children fleeing from barbaric persecution.
